I started to call this little essay “Embracing the Future” but that sounds kind of boring. Besides, I don’t want to just embrace it. I want to hug it. I want to wrap my arms around it and say, “Let’s do this.”
(Doesn’t that sound all cute and Pollyanna-ish?)
Sorry about that…but honestly, I’ve needed a visual for getting unstuck. There are always reasons to be wary of the future, but that makes me want to hug it even more. We can put our energies toward creating a better future. We can decide who and what to fight for going forward, leaving the past behind. We have power. We can make lemonade.
(I know, I know, Pollyanna showed up again.)
Well, maybe she’s here to stay. Optimism has its merits.
“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22)
