“Momentum is the ultimate catalyst for progress. It transforms stagnant energy into unstoppable action, proving that the most difficult part of any journey is simply starting. Once moving, small wins stack into massive leaps forward.”
That’s a compilation of quotes on the power of momentum. I think we’re experiencing it right now. People are getting fed up with mean spiritedness. They’re seeing through talking points that don’t answer questions. They’re expressing themselves.
But the people who work hard behind the scenes would stay the course regardless of momentum. There’s such value in endurance. Christians are reminded of this. “…since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
Sometimes Jesus had momentum going for him; sometimes he didn’t, but he knew he was on track.
I know a lot of people who don’t profess to be Christians. However, they’re pointing to the attributes of Christ with admiration. Quoting scripture, no less, on social media. Maybe this is where some momentum is. People can recognize that actions like “feeding the poor, caring for the sick, welcoming the stranger, loving our enemies, refusing to throw stones, not judging (lest we be judged), taking the plank out of our own eye before performing speck surgery on everyone else” are different than a current narrative…and incredibly intriguing! Worthy of consideration.
Who knew?
This is my note to self to stay the course, mind my own hindrances and sin, and keep running the race set before me, whether I’m alone or alongside a growing crowd.
