What a weird, frightening, unsettling … and invigorating time to be an American.
I take heart from King David who said in Psalm 27:13-14,
“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the
Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage.”
I believe those words apply today, because the Lord is the same Lord.
And I believe we need to visualize the America we want to see. Stephen Covey said to
“begin with the end in mind.” We need to have a picture of what we’re fighting for.
Do you have that picture in mind (meaning the America you want to see)? If you were to paint it, what would it look like?
Focusing on the action of “painting” keeps me moving forward, It helps me define what hills I would die on and what I can let go of or compromise on. Maybe it will be a painting of a “barn-raising,” building something new with the help of others. Not looking back, but looking ahead. The goodness of the Lord will definitely be in my painting, like, maybe, the carpenter Jesus working alongside us to push a barn wall into place.
What’s in your painting?
