I’ve been asking a certain question for a while now. Why is there no Christian defense of Trump based on the teachings of Christ? And all I’ve gotten is…
crickets.
But it’s gotten me to thinking about what a Christian nation would look like. Caveat: Jesus said his kingdom wasn’t of this world, so a physical Christian nation is not the goal. We’re not supposed to take dominion over our country’s religion, family, education, government, media, arts/entertainment and business. We are a democracy. However, we can influence society. Seems following the teachings of Christ would look something like this.
We would remember the poor. We wouldn’t cut foreign aid by 90% in one action. That’s not efficiency. That’s cruelty. We wouldn’t hide our sins. We would confess them. We would do right by those who have been harmed. We would do something about the poverty rate on reservations that’s more than double the national average. We would do away with “America First.” Jesus said the first shall be last, elevating others instead. He called THAT true greatness. Some Christians think persecuted Christians from other countries are being rescued. The problem is…they’re not. World Relief and Open Doors US just reported that the Trump administration resettled zero Christian refugees from severe persecution countries during fiscal year 2026. We would fight for all refugees out of simple compassion. And in our quest for morality, we wouldn’t give some immoralities a pass, like lying. We would hold to the highest of standards…and ultimately, look a lot like love.
