Here’s a phrase that caught my attention a while back. “Ever wonder what you would have done during the rise of Fascism? You’re doing it right now.”
I’m fighting what I see as a current form of fascism–human authoritarianism, rampant lies, flat-out cruelty towards masses of humanity, disregard for the rule of law, and on and on. Some may feel that the end (their single issue) justifies the means of fascism, but I’m guessing they’re uncomfortable with the trade-offs.
So yeah, I’m fighting. For me, it’s not just about politics, it’s about the spiritual and the existential (the quest for meaning). Is true Christianity fascist? Not in the least.
I’m guessing a lot of people are second-guessing themselves. They’re paying attention to their hearts that say something’s not right. They want to let go of the misery of a compromised life. They’re experimenting with the notion that who they’re told to oppose are not really their enemies. They want the “braver angels” to prevail and they want to BE those braver angels. In their hearts, they’ve had enough.
It’s never too late to make mid-course corrections.
Ever wonder what a return to a unified democracy full of love, justice, and mercy would look like?
