“After close study, I’ve concluded that Jesus believed there are two kinds of people:
1) your neighbors, whom you are supposed to love, and
2) your enemies, whom you are supposed to love.” ~Rev. Mark Sandlin
If we really loved, there would be no need for peacemaking (today’s topic), because there would be no conflict. “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill.” James 4:1-2a.
Nations kill each other. Currently, the number of conflicts in the world is at its highest since WW2. Ninety-two countries are involved. The global economic impact of violence was over $92 trillion in 2023 alone. ~Vision of Humanity
There are no words…
And people fight each other constantly. Sometimes they kill each other, in a variety of ways.
Yeah, we need peacemakers. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matt. 5:9.
Maybe peacemaking is a skill set. Negotiation. But maybe it’s also something more. Mutual harmony. God knows we need both.
