One of my sisters recently asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I told her “Peace on earth.” A short time later I got a text from her that said, “Peace on earth is being shipped to Debbie Johnson from Amazon and should arrive on Wednesday.”
She knows me all too well. 🙂
Her question made me think though. Besides garden art or consumables or books or whatever, what DO I want for Christmas? So I came up with a list. It’s on the serious side since, you know, I ponder.
Balance. This quote, one of those “power of positivity” things you see on Facebook, rings true to me. I wish I had learned it sooner. “Give, but don’t allow yourself to be used. Love, but don’t allow your heart to be abused. Trust, but don’t be naïve. Listen, but don’t lose your own voice.”
Clarity & Courage. I plan to continue sharing my political/philosophical/Christian thoughts in the new year. Sometimes they’re not popular, but even though I’m no political genius, I want to speak up with good sense, clarity, humility, and faithfulness.
The Impossible. Yep, I want the impossible. I want the answers, peace, and hope that I can’t provide for some of my loved ones. It’s impossible. But fortunately for me, Jesus once said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” So it’s staying on my list.
So there’s the rest of my Christmas list, Sis. And by the way, that package hasn’t arrived yet. You must have meant NEXT Wednesday…
