I’m still considering writing that book about the stuff of life, subtitled something like “Navigating the Things That Matter Most to Us.” Which got me to thinking…what DOES matter most to us. Security? Peace of mind? Taylor Swift tickets? Here’s what a few notable people have said.
“Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful… that’s what matters to me.” Steve Jobs
“What matters in this life is more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win too.” Fred Rogers
“It doesn’t matter what is. What matters is what it will become.” Dr. Seuss
“What matters is to find a purpose, to see what it really is that God wills that I shall do…to find the idea for which I am willing to live and die.” Soren Kierkegaard
“If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:3
And author Sue Monk Kidd said this. “The hardest thing on earth is choosing what matters.”
What matters most to you? I’d really like to know. If you feel inclined, please comment or message me. I’m looking for what’s beyond the givens of “my family” or “my faith.” What’s most important to your soul? I know it’s a little heavy…
Sorry I can’t throw in a couple of Taylor Swift tickets to sweeten the deal. I don’t think I could afford ‘em.
